Social Business reconciles the socio-environmental objectives typical of the public sector and non-profit organisations with the efficiency and economic sustainability of commercial enterprises. During the workshop, Rebalance member Prof. Francesco Rullani will engage a world-renowned NGO (Save the Children), one of the largest social enterprises operating in the world of fair trade (AltroMercato), and one of the most influential Italian networks of organisations aiming to propose a new economic paradigm (NeXt Economia), to discuss what perspectives, challenges and opportunities this hybrid business model can offer them and our societies, as a viable way towards a “democracy-conforming capitalism” away from a “market-conforming capitalism”.
